Open Streets is a free, family-friendly event part of a global movement to make street places that put people first. On Saturday, October 1, Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute and Hennepin Healthcare had the opportunity to participate in the Open Streets Minnehaha event. The event took place on Minnehaha Ave. in Minneapolis from East Lake St. to East 46th St., near Hennepin Healthcare’s East Lake Clinic.
The team was filled with researchers, providers, and staff from various departments of HHRI/HHS with a booth with two tables ready to inform the community of what we do. At the booth, community members could learn about medical research, meet providers, and find out about Hennepin Healthcare services.
The HHRI/HHS tables had activities, giveaways, and treats for the community. Activities included a bike helmet fitting, a pediatric safe sleep demonstration with doll babies, a research-style trivia board game, a prize wheel, informational resources, information about the Between Us program, coloring sheets, crayons, and more. The turnout was phenomenal, and everyone had a blast.
