Program on STIs and HIV Prevention
Bringing together research methods on rigorous clinical trial, understanding adherence behavior, and community co-design, the current research focus of the STI/HIV Prevention program is on strengthening impact of HIV PrEP through improved access to a variety of methods, doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis for prevention of bacterial STIs among people who were assigned female sex at birth, and community-based care models for people who use drugs.

The SHEMobile Study
In collaboration with University of Washington (MPI: Jenell Stewart and Maria Corcorran), the SHEMobile Study aims to evaluate impact of community-based care on HIV PrEP and medications for opioid use disorder uptake and sustained use by using a mobile clinic, that includes point-of-care STI testing, at location and approach co-designed with community advisory board in Seattle, WA. Clinical intervention launched in February 2024.
The foXXy doxy Study (ATN-173/HPTN-115)
The Adolescent Trials Network and HIV Prevention Trials Network (co-protocol chairs: Cheríe Blair and Jenell Stewart) are collaborating to support this RCT of on-demand doxyPEP and weekly doxyPEP compared with standard of care among people ages 13-29 years old across 12 sites in the US. Launching in early 2025.
